When I began selling real estate, I thought work meant showing houses, negotiating offers, and doing the paperwork to close a deal. I quickly learned these things are part of my job, but the real work of being a real estate agent is listening…and knowing when to speak up. Communication is the key to any agent's success

Listening to sellers
Work means understanding sellers aren't just selling their house, they're selling their home…a part of them. Work means using all their knowledge of and investment in their house to help them sell it for what they believe it to be worth, using my expertise and experience to help them arrive at that value.

Listening to buyers
The real estate agent doing her best work must also listen to the buyer for whom she is searching for a home, learning about their lifestyles, their goals, plans and dreams. Only then can she match those buyers to a house, a home…soon to be a part of them.

Always willing to listen
A real estate agent must be available…always. Nothing is more frustrating to a seller or buyer than not being able to reach the agent with a question or concern. We all have times when we simply must unplug, but I make it a priority to be available to my clients when they need me.

Knowing when to speak up
When an offer is made on a property, there will be negotiation. A real estate agent must represent her client in a fair and honest way, concluding a deal that satisfies all parties. It is imperative an agent stays in sync with her clients through every step of the transaction.

I work the way I do so I can watch happy people walk away from a closing: happy people with the keys to a new home that inspires their dreams and happy people filled with satisfaction because there was value in the house they called home.
